Sai Baba's Shirdi LIES 5

One | Two | Three | Four | Five

A shocking discovery in my research consisted of information about how Sathya Sai devotees are unashamedly using the name of known Shirdi authorities to acquire a measure of authenticity for their "avatar". More specifically, Venkamma and Seshama Raju (Sathya Sai's elder brother and sister) were jointly interviewed by V. Balu and Shakuntala Balu and were reported to have surrendered the following information about what occurred soon after Raju publicly declared himself as the reincarnation of Shirdi Baba:

"He [Raju] stayed in Uravakonda for some time more. People came from far and near to attend his bhajans. His fame spread like wild fire. Many sceptics came and were convinced. Mr. B.V. Narasimhaswamy, who wrote the life of Shirdi Sai Baba in detail and established the Sai Samaj in Madras, went to see Sathyam. He said to Seshama Raju, 'Though we do prachar [preaching] of [Shirdi] Sai Baba, we have not been as effective as this boy in spreading the name of Sai Baba. Whether he is an incarnation or not of Sai Baba, only time will tell.' He also wrote about this in the Sai Sudha magazine." - Divine Glory, p. 146.

No matter how you look at this, this story certainly serves as an example of almost shameless publicity-seeking. We have previously noted the status of Narasimha Swamiji in the firmament of the Shirdi sky, providing a brief description of his life achievements while we were at it, and suffice to say that it is largely down to his efforts that the name of Shirdi Sai Baba spread throughout India on account of his enthusiastic preaching and construction of temples in the Baba's honour, also founding and editing the 'Sai Sudha' magazine.

A prominent feature of the Swamiji's activities entailed travelling far and wide to meet with those who had directly met with Shirdi Sai Baba and experienced his miracles and presence first-hand. Part and parcel of this was to meet with several "reincarnations" who, by the early 1920s (Shirdi Sai Baba died in 1918), were already sprouting up here and there. In his famous four-volume biography of Shirdi Sai, Narasimha Swami relates how he personally met several such reincarnations and exposed them as frauds without mentioning if one of them was Raju. Further research is necessary to clarify the issue of the alleged article in Sai Sudha, but for now we may note that the general policy among the Shirdi milieu is that the Baba has not been reincarnated as we have observed on several occasions. As recently as 1982, a certain Narayana Baba of Hyderabad claimed that Shirdi Sai Baba had not reincarnated:

"He says the disembodied soul of his guru (that is, Sai Baba) talks to him. He sits before a framed photograph of the Sai Baba of Shirdi and looks at it for enlightenment... With the help of his guru's spirit, he is even able to materialise rings, lockets, and vibhuti [ash] from thin air. When asked how he produces these things he declares that the spirit of his departed guru gives them in his hands, so that when he opens his fists the object is there." - Ruhela, 'Sai Baba And His Message', p. 133-34.

The object of this series of articles was to engender a deep and penetrating analysis of [Sathya] Sai Baba's Shirdi Lies in the light of new discoveries. While we await the results of continuing research on these and other lines of enquiry, we hope that we have been largely successful in bringing this information to the public and helping them to re-evaluate their understandings of the Sai Baba phenomenon. By way of a short recap, we have shown how Sathya Sai and his official biographies initiated false impressions about his 'self-knowledge' while not disclosing the culture of Shirdi devotion that was prevalent in Puttaparthi; the testimonies of several old devotees who witnessed Raju engaging in Shirdi worship on a substantial scale; a brief recapitulation of the scorpion incident which is inconsistent in places and revealed evidence of Shirdi Sai Baba as being a separate figure; a short review of the tangled explanations offered to explain the transformation of Raju into 'Sai Baba'; and a short discussion about the possibility of a reincarnation. Considering that Sathya Sai's empire is based on the foundations of his declaration of his identity with Shirdi Sai, it's no mean feat to declare that - with the uncovering of these devastating facts - those foundations will now crumble.

To round off these essays we will conclude with the wise and considered words of that doyen of Shirdi, His Holiness B.V. Narasimha Swamiji, by whose efforts the name of Shirdi Sai Baba has largely spread to every corner of India:

"The question has several times been raised whether Sri Sai Baba arranged for and left a successor to his position. He was Guru on certain lines to vast numbers of people who looked to him at Shirdi for governing their entire lives. Naturally one would expect that such a person with such vast and mighty powers would provide his devotees with some means for their future guidance. Usually a Guru forms a Math or an Ashram and trains up, some time before he passes away, a pupil and even introduces him to those dependent on that Math or Ashram ... Every experience of every devotee that comes to him now makes him feel that he is dealing with Divinity, a good Guardian Angel, or Ishta Devata [chosen deity], if he likes to term him so. So Baba's assurance of the continuance of his protecting personality after Mahasamadhi is a sufficient reason why Baba did not mind the absence of any person to get into his Gadi [seat] at Shirdi and continue his Guruparampara [lineage of gurus] there. It is not necessary to discuss the claims of X, Y or Z, who occasionally put forward the chaim that he is the successor of Sai Baba. A few of such claims seem to have been put forward. But they were all pooh-poohed and there is no set of Sai Bhaktas that we are aware of who are deliberately saying and holding to the position that X, Y or Z was the successor to Baba's Gadi.

"That however, is a different matter from the question whether there is now any living person who has to be identified with Sai Baba. Just as the Avatars left Nava Naths as their representatives on earth, sometimes people come forward and say 'I am an Avatar of Sai Baba'. This sort of claim has been put forward in various places at various times. It is not necessary to narrate all of them even if that were possible ... But these have occasionally been mentioned in the columns of the 'Sai Sudha' or other papers and invariably on investigation, it has been noted that any person, claiming to be Sai Baba, does not show even a very small fraction of Baba's nature. Mere power to read thought, mere clairvoyance, mere production of articles from empty box and hands and mere devotion to Sai or God, will not constitute one into an Avatar of Sai. So, we might conclude this chapter by saying that Sai left no successor to his seat, that there was no seat to succeed to, (as God's seat can never be vacant) and that there is no person living who can be recognised by all as having the entire Sai spirit or Soul in his body, that is, who can be regarded as the Avatar of Sai.

"That question arises because of the statements of Sai Baba to several of his devotees ... Kaka Dixit (H.S. Dixit) seems to have said, 'Baba said that he would suddenly appear as a boy of eight and show himself, that is, his power and nature'. We have not till now discovered any boy of eight, who had Baba's wonderful nature and powers. Even if he should take birth somewhere, his Apantaratma Rupa is still there and still helping. Therefore the question of our finding any person now who is the Avatar of Baba need not be further discussed. It is sufficient to say that those who are anxious to benefit by Sai Baba will be very wise if they confine themselves to the well known history of Sai Baba; and if they adopt the usual and well known methods for contacting Sai Baba of Shirdi, who is now no other than God himself, they would succeed, and they need not be panting to discover if there is any Avatar of Sai Baba or anyone who is entitled to call himself the successor of Sai Baba for the Shirdi Gadi. God's seat we repeat is never vacant. Sai Baba was and is God always immersed in the God idea, and carrying out God's lilas when he was in the flesh. His Ritambhara Prajna or Antarjnana, as it was called, his control over men's minds and material objects at any distance, his power to appear and do anything anywhere, can only be called divine. These powers we read of in his lilas before 1918, and we read of the same also after 1918.

"Sri Sai Baba's kindness in stirring up people's minds to contact him now seems to extend itself in various places in remarkable forms and ways which are not always understood by us, but which are to spread faith in Baba. What Sai Baba did at Coimbatore in 1943, at Ramachandrapuram in 1950-54, at Ahmedabad in 1953, and at Thotapalli Hills in 1954 and in so many other places, have been brought to public notice and have greatly increased the number of Sai bhaktas. These recent lilas ... have strengthened people's fath in Baba and are bound soon to make Sai faith reach all the distant corners of this country, a faith that deals with Sai Baba as God and not as a human being holding a position that has to be filled up by a successor." - Life of Sai Baba Vol. II, p. 336-49

We couldn't have put it better.

  • i fail to understand why you spend your precious time in undermining sai baba instead of taking the good thing he says and making yourself a better person
for sure in this world any and everything can be undermined with the corropt power of words

  • If you happen to visit Shirdi, you will see Sri Shirdi Sai Baba's nine famous quotations...one of them goes like this:

My tomb shall bless and speak to the needs of my devotees.

So, if Sathya Sai Baba is really a re-incarnation of Shirdi Baba, why would Shirdi Baba say that His tomb shall bless and speak? He would have directly announced that He would re-incarnate just like how Sathya Sai Baba is declaring. By the way how can anyone really know that Prema Sai Baba would be a reality and not just another myth?

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 02 October, 2006 22:50

  • Z - I hate to say it, being a former devotee, but Sai Baba is a liar pure and simple. What difference does it make to "make ourselves better persons" when the person who tells us to do that is obviously not practicing his own teachings?

We have just seen how Sai Baba has suffered the biggest expose of his life. His entire mission is based on his pronouncement to be the reincarnation of Sri Shirdi Sai Baba, and that has just crumbled to dust. His biographer was involved in a conspiracy and further biographers replicated and expanded these lies. This is possibly the most devastating thing to happen to him.

Words may be used for corruption but they can also be used to tell the TRUTH, which is what "Sathya" Sai Baba is supposed to stand for.

  • Anonymous, I agree with your views and have even written something on it previously. It is true that Shirdi Sai Baba "lives from his tomb" as many other saints are reported to do and as per the testimonies of many Shirdi Sai devotees.

It's difficult to speak about Prema Sai given that he hasn't been "born" yet (tongue-firmly-in-cheek), but this does look very much like the beginnings of a myth. As with Shirdi Sai Baba, I suspect that many will pop up claiming to be a reincarnation of Sathya Sai after he is deceased, despite his allegedly having given the time and place of Prema Sai's birth, and then to confound it all, maintain that Prema Sai will be in hiding and will publicly declare himself in his teenage years! All very strange, this Sai Baba myth..

  • Om Sai Ram! I respet the opinion of those who may want to disagree with me. I don't mean to offend anyone. However, i would like to be honest about my feelings regarding Sathya Sai Baba. I am 24 years old. I came to know about Shirdi Baba and started worshipping him when i was around 10 years old.

As a teenager i heard of Sathya Sai Baba.I also started hearing and reading controversies about him.So i quickly judged him to be a fraud.

As i grew 18, Sathya Sai Baba started drawing my attention again. I started reading books on him. I met people who believed Sathya Sai Baba to be an avatar. Slowly i started experiencing his grace and presence in my life in a way which cannot be explained in words. Today i have accepted him as a reincarnation of Shirdi Baba. I have accepted him as God incarnate. I see him as Love walking on 2 feet.

I dont care even about the worst possible controversies regarding Sathya Sai Baba. I love him with all my heart and soul. And i truely believe that in the last 5 to 6 years of his life, he will reveal his divinity to the whole world.

If i have written anything offensive then i am sorry. I was just trying to share my feelings about Baba.

P.S. No on in my family believes in either of the two Sai Babas. It has been a personal solo journey for me.

  • Dear Anonymous, thank you for recounting your story. In many ways it is typical of the way many people come to Sathya Sai Baba. I was also a devotee/follower/admirer of Shirdi Sai Baba before I came to know of Sathya Sai.

Like most devotees, I too believed with all my conviction that Sathya Sai was a reincarnation of Shirdi Baba, and I was even fortunate enough to have circumstantial experiences to support this. You must believe me when I say that the exposure of this issue has broken my heart. I never expected this to happen but it is the way of truth that the facts must come into the light of day. Various people (Kasturi et al) have participated in a major cover-up in order to hide the truth about Sathya Sai Baba and perpetuate the myth that he is Shirdi Sai reborn.

Thanks to dedicated research, we now know that there is extremely strong compelling evidence that Shirdi Baba himself was a Sufi Muslim, which should put to bed the controversy of whether he was a Hindu or a Muslim. I personally don't care and I wouldn't respect him any less for being a Muslim, but I do take objection when anybody else is influenced by him and tries to hijack his glory for themselves.

Like anybody else, I too believed in Sathya Sai's message that he would bring about the 'Golden Age' of humanity as he has promised to do. I was also disillusioned when I found out that the Golden Age is already five years overdue?

  • Om Sai Ram,
Thank you for posting my mail and for replying to it. I appreciate your time and patience.

I know how you feel.It really hurts when someone you really believed in ends up disappointing you.I must admit that the sexual controversies(many other controversies as well) about Sathya Sai Baba have really increased with time.

What usually happens with people is that(with all due respect) they are believers of Sathya Sai Baba but later give up their belief in him due to the controversies and "evidences" found against him.

For me it happened the other way round. I was a Sathya Sai Baba hater throughout my teenage. I used to believe that he is sexually frustrated and also a cheap magician who is using Shirdi Baba's name to promote himself.

Then......like i have said in my previous emails.... i started believing in him due to various experiences i had.

But i must admit that i once again lost my faith in him. I became a follower of Osho Rajneesh. Osho's views about Sathya Sai Baba were not very kind. He said in his various discourses that Sathya Sai Baba is a homosexual and a nothing more than a desperate magician.

However, my faith in Sathya Sai Baba was revived again. And this time, the revival was so powerful that i surrendered myself at Baba's lotus feet. I gave my heart to him for ever. I see this as a miracle in itself.

Everywhere i go, people make fun of my belief in Baba. My family and friends don't miss a single chance to verbally abuse Baba and to mock my belief in him. They ask me for answers to the controversies.

Now even if Baba grows two horns on his head and declares himself to be the devil's incarnation, i will still not give up my love for him. He is my beloved, my best friend and God. This may be termed as superstition or blind faith. But thats exactly how i feel right now.

I believe there are 2 very important reasons why so many Shirdi Baba devotees find it so difficult to accept Sathya Sai Baba.

1)The media i.e tv, newspapers and internet was not so popular at the time of Shirdi Baba. I am sure if the media was equally active in the times of Shirdi Baba or any previous avatar then we would hear many more controversies about them.

2)There is a very strange sub-conscious belief that many indians as well as non-indians are carrying within their minds. For some reason poverty has become a proof for a saint/avatar's authenticity. People more easily believe controversies about rich gurus like Sathya Sai Baba as compared to the gurus who lead a life of poverty and renunciation.

As far as the "golden age" is concerned, apart from Sathya Sai Baba many others are talking about it. Many gurus and channels all over the world are promising a great shift in the vibration of this planet in or around the year 2012. A friend recently shared an email with me which talks about Sathya Sai Baba's conversation with a few lucky ones in a private interview. Baba has talked about a Divine "Golden Light" developing around this planet which will fully descend on this planet by 2012.

My heart says Baba will reveal his glory, love and divinity in the last few years of his life which may co-incide with 2012.

Again...... Sorry if i have written anything offensive in this email. Om Sai Ram!

    Love and Light,
    Sidharth Pannu

  • Hello HH..
No idea why I stumbled upon your blog, but it's very interesting. Though I solely worship/follow Shirdi Sai as my Guru, I think twice before even announcing myself as His devotee/disciple b'coz I lack the qualities of Mahalsapathi/Shama/many others etc who devoted their entire life to Shirdi Sai. For someone to declare that he's an avtar of Shirdi Sai, well only God knows what it's!
I believe in the fact that God takes incarnation but the incarnate doesn't reincarnate. For eg, Jesus didn't come back, Ram/Krishna didn't come back...so on. But they still guide their devotees.Similarly Shirdi Sai never publicly announced that He would be reincarnating and I feel that, what for He needs to reincarnate? His soul is guiding so many of us!Most importantly, it's most benefecial for someone to stick to one Guru and follow right till the end. It's total mess when you come across someone who says, "I follow this one, also that one and yeah, the other one too".
Having said this, though it might be irritating to come across this kind of unpleasant reincarnation theories, it's best to leave it to God(or Guru Shirdi Sai)instead we keep criticizing.
    All IMHO,
    Holy

  • Dear Siddarth,

thank you very much for writing back. Please do not worry about causing any offence, as I am always happy to discuss these issues. Also I have left out some parts of your email in order to avoid being lengthy. Readers will be able to see your original post so I hope you don't mind.

It is true that a lot of devotees have relinquished their faith in him due to the proliferation of all these allegations. I would like to share with you the fact that I am different. Further details below.

    >>For me it happened the other way round. I was a Sathya Sai Baba hater throughout my teenage. I used to believe that he is sexually frustrated and also a cheap magician who is using Shirdi Baba's name to promote himself. <<

Just to make a point, I guess you can see the latest research about the Shirdi connection. I wonder what you specifically think about that?

I find it interesting how you turned from 'hater' into 'devotee', many people report basically the same experience. I was never a 'hater' because I didn't know much about him. However, I knew that he was some sort of saint (which is why his picture was revered in people's homes) and I respected him as such without knowing anything much about him.

I was a devotee for 10 years and I even defended him very strongly from all of these allegations when they first arose around 1999/2000, so I have known of these controversies almost since the beginning. I would like to tell you that I did not leave Sai Baba because of all these sexual abuse allegations and such, but because I realised through my own studies that he could not be an avatar. If he could not be an avatar then whatever he says (especially about himself) cannot be authentic. For more information, please read "Why I Left Sai Baba" for details. It basicaly means that my objections against Sai Baba are primarily philosophical and theological; the fact that his teachings are not in line with Hindu philosophy, and other similar issues.

    >> But i must admit that i once again lost my faith in him. I became a follower of Osho Rajneesh. Osho's views about Sathya Sai Baba were not very kind. He said in his various discourses that Sathya Sai Baba is a homosexual and a nothing more than a desperate magician. <<

Very interesting! I never knew that. I t would be interesting to see his exact words if possible.

    >> However, my faith in Sathya Sai Baba was revived again. And this time, the revival was so powerful that i surrendered myself at Baba's lotus feet. I gave my heart to him for ever. I remember how I also used to feel like that when I was a devotee. I used to like the line "mara mita jaye hum, humse na ruthey tu - zindagi saupa de hum, charanomey tere yu" from the bhajan "Sai Bina Raha Na Jayey" sung by Whitefield students. I believe that this line was an expression of the ultimate of my devotion to Sai Baba.

    >>

I'm sure that Shirdi Sai Baba would be much maligned in this day and age, as even the records of incidents during his lifetime are much objectionable, such as using foul words, beating his devotees, cooking meat, etc. But because of my recent research I have been reading more about Shirdi Sai than ever before and I feel that I can see why Shirdi devotees do not like Sathya Sai - they are so glaringly different! Even though most of the biographies state that they act and behave the same, who can really say? A very tiny minority (just two people) who met Shirdi Sai Baba were devotees of Sathya Sai, so I don't think that the biographers can be taken as very authentic.

As for richness vs. poverty, I agree with that problem. On the other hand I have knowledge of some saints who maintained a life and ideals of poverty while commanding great riches. Clearly they have worked out how to synthesise the two principles, so I also have no problem with "rich gurus" as such as long as there is clear evidence of detachment from the same. In some philosophical sects there is a doctrine of "yukta-vairagya", which roughly means "useful discrimination". It's a way of using money and technology for spiritual and "good" purposes, so a real saint would know how to do yukta-vairagya as apposed to phalgu-vairagya (false discrimination).

And I would love to believe that, if only for the fact that Sathya Sai is on record as saying that the Golden Age (at least his Golden Age) will start on his 75th birthday which was during the year 2000. He is coming up to 81 now, and there is no sign of any Golden Age?

Moreover, he has been telling various people different things and giving different dates for the start of the Age, why? He told Connie Shaw (a famous devotee) in 2002 that it will begin in five years, specifically naming 2007 as the year when the war will be over and the Golden Age will start. Why did he do that? And then why does your friend report 2012 as the year? There are so many wildly differing reports that it's impossible to make any sense out of them. And what do you have to say about this?

I'm sure you can see all the conflicts.

Thank you Sidarth, and love and light to you too. Even though we may be on opposing sides, it's very nice and humbling to know that we can reach across and engage in a civil , polite and even enjoyable discourse. Many Sai devotees tend to be acrimonious and hostile, so it is great relief and a pleasure to talk with you.

    Kind regards.

  • Hi Holygrail,

Yes I agree with most of your ideas. It is certainly a fact that a true devotee/disciple would be humble about it and wouldn't go around announcing himself, much less acting as if he is the reincarnation of said saint. What is unique about this new research is that for the first time, it is revealed that Sathya Sai was actually a "devotee" of Shirdi Sai Baba for several years, instead of the "official" story about how he declared his identity/oneness with Shirdi Sai out of the blue.

And yes it is also true that Shirdi Sai continues to guide his devotees from his tomb as per his own promises, and Narasimha Swamiji has outlined the reason why it is not possible or even necessary for Shirdi Baba to reincarnate again.

Sathya Sai devotees, for the most part, certainly have eclectic tendencies when it comes to spiritual paths,so there are a lot of confusions. However I thought that it was interesting to bring all of this information to light. I hope you enjoyed reading it.

    Kind regards,

  • Om Sai Ram,

First of all on behalf of the Sathya Sai family all over the world i apologize to you for any so-called Sathya Sai devotee who has abused or disrespected you in any way. Such people are not even devotees. They claim to believe in baba but fail to follow even one his teachings in their lives.

and you know what.... my heart says that even you are a part of Sathya Sai family. With due respect to your opinion about him, i feel that Baba will answer all your questions and address all your doubts in time and you will once again love him.

ok....... lets talk about the golden age. Lets keep Sathya Sai Baba aside for a while. Lets talk about the golden age minus Baba.

There is a great hope and excitement within the "new age" family all over the world. I am talking about thousands of Reiki masters, clairvoyant channels, shamans, mystics, astrologers and gurus all over the world. They are all expecting and talking about a great vibrational shift of this planet in 2012.

Many physicists and environmentalists have also started talking about strange and difficult to explain changes in the environment and vibrational frequency of this planet.

So whether we believe in baba or not, the golden age is about to come upon us within the next decade or so. Ofcourse, we have a free will to participate in the manifestation of this golden age by evolving spiritually or to dismiss it as a crazy fiction.

Now let us look at the golden age as explained by Baba. It may be true that he has given different dates to different people. It could be very true. According to many people the process started back in 1980 or 1982 but the golden age will unfold itself completely by 2012. Infact the process will continue even further than 2012.

So may be the different dates that Baba gave were not the dates for the golden age to fully materialize but were indications of the different stages of the process. May be the golden age process reached an important stage on his 75th b'day. And 2007 may be the next important stage of the process.

I mean.... i can clearly see political, economical and environmental changes, terrorist attacks and natural disasters taking place at rapid speed all over the world. This could very well be the cleansing process(i believe that it is).

    continued in next post..........

  • continued from previous post..........

I want to share something about 2 special individuals in my life.

One of them is Mr Subodh Pande. I knew him ever since i was a child. he is a devotee of both the Sai babas. But he never talks about his sai devotion publically. Infact very few people even know that he is a Sai devotee.

I remember going to his house with my parents as a child. One day i discovered that he believes in both Shirdi Baba and Sathya Sai Baba. As a child i asked him about it. He told me his story. And he has no reason to lie. He keeps a low profile and hates publicity.

He told me that when he was in his twenties, he was walking on the street and he saw a street side shopkeeper selling pictures of Indian Gods and Goddesses. He saw a picture of Shirdi Baba and immediately felt drawn to it. Then he visited shirdi and fell unconscious while visting the temple there. When he came back to his senses he had clear memory of his previous life. He was a devotee of Shirdi Baba and was present at Baba's physical death in Shirdi.

Interestingly, Mr pande is also a Sathya Sai devotee. He says that when the memories of previous life came to him, he also felt drawn to Sathya Sai Baba. He felt an assurance that Shirdi Baba has come back as Sathya Sai Baba. By the way, he had not heard about Sathya Sai Baba till then. He received an inspiration from Shirdi Baba about Sathya Sai Baba.

The second individual does not want me to use his name here. he is a god-realized saint. He is a devotee of Shirdi Baba. He was lucky to live personally visit Sathya Sai Baba's room and do seva for baba in his room. he has incredible experiences with Sathya Sai Baba in that room and he came out convinced that Sathya Sai Baba is Shirdi Baba incarnate.

  • I invite all the Sathya Sai Baba haters to read this article. It is very long but worth reading.

  • A 37-page riposte that waxes lyrical about Sai Baba and his activities without even addressing the fundamental dynamics of the abuse allegations. Yes, Venkataraman mentions them briefly but spends far too much time submitting half-baked defences of Sai baba that do not prove one way or another if Sai Baba is innocent.

The funniest parts are where he claims to have scientific training and all, but have you read any of his "scientific" articles in RadioSai magazine? If Einstein wasn't already deceased, he would surely kill himself.

More on this in an upcoming post.

  • AUM SRI SAIRAM.

    My dear Friends..

I am Arun from Chennai.. If you people are really interested in Baba's speech and his life. You can do research with this saying of Baba :-). "I AM GOD AND YOU ARE ALSO GOD". This is one of the beautiful and open statement from Baba . I am very much puzzled to see you people doing research with the first half of that saying (I am God) . Why not u people go to the second half of that sayings (You are also God). Y showing much interest in Baba's divnity. Sathya Sai Baba says that everybody is god and i am very much puzzled to see u people not paying any type of attention to that wonderful saying. It is his headache whether he is god or not and y u take more attention to that and y not taking care for ur divinity..Make some sense my dear friends

  • Why Sathya do not visit Shirdi? Surely he is more than welcome to stay there?

  • Arun from Chennai: No ofence pal, but that has to be one of the most brainless things I've ever read. What does Sai Baba's teachings in innate godhood have to do with the fact that he lied about being the reincarnation of Shirdi Sai Baba?

This seems to be the very last resort of Sai devotees who cannot handle it when irrefutable and damning facts are presented about their dear master: "Well his teachings are wise."

I have some news: His teachings are not wise and, contrary to popular opinion, actually represent a significant deviation from the Vedic tradition that he claims to uphold. There is nothing in the Vedic tradition that allows for the claim "you are God", and any such interpretation is usually criticise as a sevre misinterpretation.

That Sai devotees willingly believe this tripe that he dishes out at every discourse is proof of the fact that very few devote actual time to studying the theological and philosophical root of his teaching, but are content to sit back and accept everything he says as infallible so long as it makes sense.

I have been challenging for years: Please provide proof that Sai Baba's teachings have any basis in the Vedic literature. If it hasn't, then it is nonsense and must be treated as such.

    Why is all this important?

Because your spiritual life is at stake.

  • Unbelievable.

Did you even read this blog series? All of his claims are based on lies. ALL of his claims about being divine are all lies.

He may have opened hospitals and so on, but who can take him seriously when his whole reputation is built on proven lies?

By Blogger Swami Saiexposedananda, at 14 December, 2007 18:28

  • I also listend Sathya Sai Baba's claim some days back about re-incarnation of Shirdi Baba and prediction of Prema Sai Baba which he claims will take birth after 7 years of his leaving the body. and I am sure whether this Sai Baba part II will re-incarnate or not, but we shall listen the name of Prema Sai Baba, definitely someone will stand up claiming himself as Prema Sai Baba in the same way as Sathya is claiming himself the re-incarnation of Shirdi's Baba. It seems today a trend to claim himself Avtar. Even in 20th century we can count at least 20 Avtars (some of them may be claimed by their follower not by themselves). At the moment some Hollywood movies are coming in my mind like Spiderman II, Spiderman III, in the same way here is Sai Baba II, than will come Sai Baba III.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 02 June, 2008 12:42

  • Not just Saibaba I, II, III. If we allow, every other individual who cannot make money claims as some avatar, to rake money. And mostly, these are the one's who cannot lead normal huamn life for some disability.

Shiridi Sai would have aroused controversy if he was alive today, but, then, his acts are clearly indicative of his power. He was a master of Yoga / Meditation, which makes it possible for all his acts like cleansing the body, reading the minds, foreseeing things, etc.

His presence can be felt even today by many of his devotees, we many not be like Kaka saheb or Mahalsapathi, but, not worst.

There are many people who claim to be an avatar of Krishna, misusing the name Radha and Krishna, example is Barsana dham.

if we go as per science, there is no God, but, there is some cosmic power. We tend to ignore this fact conveniently. The cosmic power can be reached by any individual who follows certain practices, and yoga is one of them. All these people whom we are serving as Gods never proclaimed that they are gods, its we who made them Gods. They are individuals with high skills and worth looking upon as idols and Gurus.

Many instances of biography twisitng are there right from our puranas to bible to quran. Who knows the facts of the olden times? Atleast, there were no controversies nor did they preach to gain money.

Asking money is not bad, but, misuing it leads to doubts.
Our Vedic Dharma, it has been misquoted by many in past years. I am not an authoritative person, I believe in God, one God and that all of us are his Children. A guru is one who can direct us there, not interfering in our lives and deciding whom we should marry or how we should lead the marital life, how many times we should be spending time with spouse, what we should be studying etc.

That is making a person dependable. Depnedability on any person for an individual weakens their inner strength and they lose confidence.

  • There's no such thing anyway, there's no guru who appears and puts something 'astral' in your hand and then 'materializes' it on your hand, that's all bullshit. All those bastards claiming to have any relationship with the so-called 'beyond' - which doesn't exist at all - are fooling themselves and fooling the others.

By Anonymous Anonymous, at 07 June, 2011 17:14

  • And those bastards above using Osho that filthy bogus, that pimp, as a criticism against Baba are as fool as the Sai Devotees. Oshean of shit.

  • I would like to share the experience of mine and my friends, namely how we got rid of the faith that baba was truly god, the god that he ment to be (now we belive he was that historical false prophet propheted by the Bible). We are Christians and we at the same time accepted baba as an avatar. This was like some kind of absolutely new mind blowing term and happening in the world- God walking among people. We attended his ashram many times. Personaly I was putting carefully into practise his saying: if you are Christian, be the real Christian. At the point when I arrived to the total surrender to Jesus, some uncomfortable and unbearable feeling arose in my heart. It came intuitively and then I formulated the question, this time to Jesus, and not to baba, about this avatar's identity. Then soon I found his crazy sayings about Jesus with no effort at all. The shock and pain was so huge but in a few days it subsided and I had the dream that I have destroyed the cult of Krupskaya and Stalin. Later I realized that baba was far worse than stalin. Stalin used to destroy physical lives of many people and baba used to steal faith and souls. So, I guess even after death the souls of his devotees cannot find rest. Sometimes I feel so shocked and sad that I must call Jesus to help me. But basically all the time since the revelation my physical health (the more I travelled to ashram, the more sick I felt) is improving in seconds and minutes. I'm alive again. Thus, thank you.

  • Dear Friends,

I stumbled upon the blog very late indeed, as the last post was on the year 2011, but anyway I would like to register my thoughts as well. I am a Believer of Shirdi Saint. I have experienced his presence occasionally, but deep in the heart I know He is always present everywhere. Regarding Sathya Sai, my heart never found any connection with him.. All I can understand that perhaps he is a Mystic( One with Yogic Abilities) that has been bestowed upon him naturally. Shirdi Sai Baba is a powerful Manifestation himself whom have planned his samadhi into a Temple to store his Immortality on Earth, in fact long before years. All the 11 Assurances he has not declared just before he shed his body, it was occasionally spilled from his mouth... Perhaps few years before the Mahasamadhi, which then Assurances was compiled together. All this was already planned by Baba Shirdi to prepare his followers & dependants, it's a prove that he is all knowing, Master controller of the Reality Universe. Made Booty to materialize a Wada to rest his mortal body... & to Mount his immortality over his great Tomb. & Ever as before Eternally Powerfully Generated Grace reaches all beings on this World whichever corner they are..! Some way or another, bigger or smaller Shirdi Sai Devotees should have experienced his Grace in 1 way or another.. But ultimately his Grace is always there, but its just that connection is important to receive it. So here I would like to say... Alot of Worldy, Family Responsiblitiies awaits for all of us, instead of using the Grace to perform the duties why waste time on discriminating between the root of the Grace. Anyway it would not benefit us because this is a ever growing query. So please concentrate on Grace & be beneficial. Eating the food is more important then querying the orgin of the food during a famine situation.

    Thank You.
